The brand of Iberian products Capa Negra, of the Consorcio de Jabugo group, is reinforcing its presence in the Dominican Republic with participation in the Delicatessen Conferences organised by the supermarket chain Bravo, where it is consolidated as the only line of Iberian pork products.

Bravo opened its doors for the event on Sunday and it was attended by more than 200 celebrities from the world of hospitality and other notable guests from the Central American country.Consorcio de Jabugo had its own stand, where it could promote its Capa Negra Iberian products, and award prizes to the four best local ham-cutters in the first ham-cutting contest in the Dominican Republic, held earlier by the Consortium.

The Bravo chain, with over 45 years in business, is the country's leader in sales per square metre and specialises in the marketing of gourmet and high end products, such as caviar and foie, and where the star of the show is acorn-fed Iberian ham.

Capa Negra has also had a leading role in two other events in the Dominican Republic thanks to the prestigious chef Martín Berasategui, who has sponsored the brand since 2008.Berasategui has opened two establishments in the country, fruit of his alliance with Paradisus Resorts, the luxury chain in the Caribbean Islands of Meliá Hotels Internacional.

The first of these restaurants, “Fuego Gastro Bar by Martín Berasategui”, is located on the beaches of Punta Cana, and the second, the restaurant “Passion by Martín Berasategui”, is in the Paradisus Palma Real tourist complex.

Berasategui will serve acorn-fed Iberian ham and other Capa Negra Iberian products in both establishment. During their inauguration, participants could taste the best Jabugo ham, hand-cut in public by a master cutter of the Consorcio de Jabugo, who travelled to the Dominican Republic for the event.

Capa Negra is one of the highest quality brand names of the Consorcio de Jabugo group. The name of the brand refers to the skin dark of the Capa Negra Iberian pig, an unmistakable symbol of the Iberian breed, as well as the flavour of its products. It is a category of foods with exceptional gastronomic feature: Iberian hams and sausages of the highest quality.

Consorcio de Jabugo, present in the world of Iberian products since 1986, is a business group devoted to rearing Iberian pigs and to the preparation and marketing of their products.
Its location in Jabugo, home to the best Iberian ham, guarantees the quality of its products, which are renowned all over the world.
In 2005, the group was complete with the acquisition of Quesos Canal, a company based in Valladolid specialising in the preparation of cheeses from unpasturised sheep's milk, with origins dating back to 1940.
